Meet Sharon
Sharon has over 40 years of experience in healthcare having transitioned from a Registered General Nurse and Midwife to her current role as a Diabetes Specialist Midwife in the Antenatal Clinic. Her diverse career includes conducting Homebirths, overseeing the Labour Ward, and working on the Special Care baby unit. Notably, she spent the last decade as the Labour Ward coordinator at Southmead Hospital, a unit that sees 6,500 births annually. Sharon has been actively involved in research initiatives, training Midwives, Obstetricians and Anaesthetists, and contributing to national safety guidelines and NICE guideline review panels. Recognized with the North Bristol Trust ‘Practitioner of the Year award 2021’ and a finalist for the British Journal of Midwifery ‘National Midwife of the Year Award’ in 2020, Sharon is dedicated to improving maternity care and advocating for the well-being of mothers and families.



About the New Parent Course
Delivered online over three 90-minute sessions, each course explores key topics as your pregnancy progresses. Classes are typically held around 16, 28, and 35 weeks, giving you plenty of time to prepare for your baby’s expected arrival.

Session 1: 16 Weeks – Health in Pregnancy
Essential guidance on nutrition, exercise, baby’s movements, and labour preparation.
Session 2: 28 Weeks – Labour and Delivery
Covers labour stages, pain relief, interventions, and delivery options, including C-section and assisted births.


Session 3: 35 Weeks – Early Parenthood & Newborn Care
Support for postpartum recovery, emotional wellbeing, newborn care, feeding, early parenting, and transitioning into family life, including guidance for dads.
